Before asking

This page explains the protocol to follow before you ask for help.

Questions to ask yourself :

• Have I understood the problem ? What must I do to pass the exercise ?
  • If not, re-explain the problem to yourself or to another student
• Have I understood the course ?
  • If not, re-read the course (RTFM)
• Have I worked enough on the problem ? At least 10 mins ?
  • If not, keep trying
  • Check the hints for the exercise (on this website)

If you are still blocked after accomplishing these steps, then you can ask the teacher for help.

Asking

To ask for help, you must :

• explain what you did (all the methods used)
• explain why you think you did it that way
• explain what you don't understand

The teacher will then try to guide you into the correct answer, by giving hints, but never give the final answer.

The goal of the course is to teach the student to successfully do things by themselves.
